Welcome to Why Not Petites!

Updated: Feb 13, 2022

Hello and welcome to our first ever blog post for Why Not Petites! We are so glad you have decided to be a part of our journey. Take a read below to learn a bit more about how we got started.

First off, my name is Britney! I am the founder and creator of Why Not Petites.

Whether you stumbled upon us on purpose or by accident, I'm excited to tell you a bit about us.

I have been modeling for fourteen years and love what I do, but as a petite model most of the jobs are commercial and lifestyle shoots.

I want modeling to be my full time job and have been searching for a way to not feel discouraged when I don't book beauty, couture, fashion, runway, bridal, etc.

I decided to look for other petite models in the Chicagoland area who might feel the same way. I was worried this would be a daunting task, Photographer: Mitch Stanojlovic

but I didn't have to look very far find

some very talented petites.

No two people are the exact same and we all have different strengths that allow us to shine and be unique, and that's something that needs to be brought to the forefront of this industry.

I had this idea, to have a group of petite models to keep each other motivated but to also use each other as resources to continue to work on our craft even if it isn't for a job. I found a few interested girls, and as the ideas started flowing, my own interest grew into something bigger than I had initially imagined.

I came up with the name Why Not Petites because it poses a question but is also a statement. Why aren't there more petite models on the runway or used for other jobs? Just because we are short doesn't mean that we don't know our angles any less or know how to make ourselves look taller, and it certainly doesn't mean we have any less skill.

I remember hearing, "If you lack something that another girl has, you have to make up for it with something else." Being short, I knew I had to make up for it in other areas so people wouldn't notice, and that advice has carried me in my career. I also live by this advice beyond my height, because that's just something naturally true. No two people are the exact same and we all have different strengths that allow us to shine and be unique, and that's something that needs to be brought to the forefront of this industry.

We are so excited to share our experiences, tips, and advice on the blog as time goes on. Have a question you would like answered? Send us a message under our "Contact Us" page and we will add it to the list of topics!
